well, i just returned from a concert of “The Brad Mehldau Trio” in Duisburg. This Band has been for a real long time on my wishlist of acts i need to see live.
Mr. Mehldau did all anouncements in german, therefore i will do give a quick review of the concert in english.
This concert was:
unique
astounding
inspiring
it is too bad that ingenousness as a concept died with the arising of modernity, because this guy could be labeled (with a few others) a genius.
What he played in the second song, where he dis a solo over a complex bass line in 5/4 in unison with Larry Grenbadier was breathtaking.
Further Highlights were a version of Countdown by “John Coltrane” and a song by Radiohead, but i am sorry, i am not very good in memorizing tune names.
